Ok, I have decided to publish an occasional series looking at issues and observations I see and perceive in Retail IT Leadership. I am going to use the generic heading of ‘Shepherding Chaos’ which might give you an insight into my general philosophy and approach. You might also see the use of several sheep pictures, it transpires there’s a lot out there.
Shepherding Chaos is not intended to be derogatory, indeed I’d like to emphasise the word ‘Shepherding’ as an indication of controlled direction, however retail by its very nature can be ever changing, spur of the moment, reactive and therefore relatively chaotic. I do believe there can be a tendency to attempt over control of something that often needs and can flourish with a just little flexibility.
As ever these will only be my cumulative thoughts based on many years doing the job and I welcome and appreciate thoughts, challenge and debate.
