A family run business, Leyland SDM is a multi-location DIY company managing 25 stores in and around the M25. One of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in Central London, their stores are located in some of London’s most prominent locations including King’s Road Chelsea, High Street Kensington, Shaftesbury Avenue, Victoria, Clerkenwell and Notting Hill Gate.
A trusted retailer of some of the biggest and best-known DIY brands, Leyland offers a comprehensive range of over 22,000 products across all departments of decorating and DIY. In a position of growth, Leyland needed to review their in-house systems to deliver the best customer experience. Acquired by the Grafton Group in 2018, they also needed to align with the Grafton Group systems.
Leyland were using an in-house built ERP and EPOS solution. Although they had served the business well in the past, they needed to be upgraded to build a technical foundation for future expansion. Leyland didn’t have an onsite IT team or an internal resource to manage the implementation of a new system. Following recommendation, Retail247 were approached to support with this.
Following extensive research, Leyland took the decision to implement Microsoft Dynamics AX to give them an exceptional customer focus by being able to take advantage of cloud services, run agile operations, and engage customers across multiple platforms (web, social, apps and mobile). It is critical for retailers to adapt to customer preferences with agility and speed and the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX, an out of the box solution, was Leyland’s preferred ERP choice.
Retail247 were initially brought in to support the testing, deployment and training but this soon developed into a larger project to enable Leyland’s expansion of stock consistency across all retail sites and establish a firm foundation for growth. Brought in to represent the retailer, we provided an onsite experienced team who understand retail and have run IT projects and implementations of this kind.

The implementation of AX 2012 into Leyland’s warehouse, head office and stores was successfully delivered. Whilst the project is now complete, Retail247 continue to be available to provide support to the Leyland team.
